Brush & Tree Clearing
BRUSH & TREE CLEARING SERVICES IN SOUTHERN MD
Reclaim Your Property. We Handle the Overgrowth.
Southern Maryland grows fast. A few seasons of neglect can turn a usable yard into an impenetrable wall of briars, invasive vines, volunteer trees, and downed timber. At Adams Property Works, brush and tree clearing is heavy equipment work — not landscaping. We bring excavators, skid steers, and grapple attachments to jobs that would take a crew with hand tools weeks to finish. We're typically in and out in a day or two, and we haul everything off when we leave.
Whether you've got half an acre of overgrowth you want back or a full wooded lot that needs to be cleared before construction, we have the equipment and the experience to do it right.

WHAT WE CLEAR
Dense brush & invasive growth
Briars, multiflora rose, honeysuckle, and the thorned thickets that take over Southern Maryland fence lines and property edges. We don't just cut it — we grub the root mass so it doesn't grow back in a season.
Trees & saplings
From volunteer saplings to established trees that need to come down. We fell, section, and remove — or grind in place depending on what makes sense for your site. We work around trees you want to keep.
Stumps & root systems
A cleared lot with stumps left in it isn't a cleared lot. We grind stumps below grade or excavate the full root ball depending on whether the area will be seeded, paved, or built on.
Overgrown fence lines & property boundaries
We clear to your property line cleanly — useful if you're reclaiming boundary definition, installing a fence, or dealing with encroaching growth from a neglected adjacent parcel.
Storm debris & downed timber
After a heavy storm, we can mobilize quickly to remove fallen trees, broken limbs, and debris piles that are blocking access or creating hazards.
Lot clearing for new construction
If you're breaking ground on a new build, we clear and grub the lot to bare earth and coordinate with your site work or excavation crew on what comes next.

WHAT SETS OUR CLEARING WORK APART
We haul everything off — you don't deal with the aftermath. Some clearing contractors cut and pile, leaving you to figure out debris removal. We load and haul everything: brush, timber, stumps, root balls. When we leave, the site is clear ground, not a yard full of burn piles waiting for a dry week.
We use the right machine for the lot, not the biggest one we own. A full-size excavator tears up a yard that a skid steer with a brush cutter could handle cleanly. We match equipment to the job — which matters if you have soft ground, tight access, or trees you want to preserve on the edges.
We can clear around what you want to keep. Not everything on an overgrown lot needs to go. If you want mature trees preserved, a hedgerow maintained, or a specific area left untouched, we work to those boundaries. We'll walk the property with you before we start so there are no surprises.
We know what's underneath Southern Maryland lots.
Old fence posts, buried concrete, forgotten septic components, cisterns — overgrown properties in St. Mary's, Calvert, and Charles Counties hide things. We move carefully and flag anything unexpected rather than running through it with a bucket.

Frequently Asked Questions: Brush & Tree Clearing
Do you haul away all the debris or just cut and leave it?
We haul everything. Brush, timber, stumps, and root material all leave with us. If you want logs left for firewood, we can set those aside — just let us know before we start.
Can you clear around existing trees I want to keep?
Yes. We walk the property with you before we begin and mark or flag anything that stays. We use smaller equipment around trees you're preserving to avoid damaging root zones and bark at ground level.
How long does lot clearing typically take?
A standard residential lot — half an acre to an acre of moderate overgrowth — is usually a one to two day job. Heavily wooded acreage, lots with large tree removal, or sites with significant stump excavation take longer. We'll give you a realistic timeline when we scope the job.
Does clearing leave the ground ready to seed or build on?
Clearing gets you to bare ground. If you need the surface graded and smoothed for seeding, that's a separate final grading step we can include. If you're building, site prep and subgrade work follows clearing — we can handle both and coordinate the sequence. We'll tell you exactly what's needed for your specific end goal.
Do I need a permit to clear trees in Southern Maryland?
It depends on your county, lot size, and proximity to waterways or critical areas. St. Mary's, Calvert, and Charles Counties each have their own tree removal and clearing ordinances, and properties near the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area have additional restrictions. We can help you identify what applies to your property before we start.
